iPhoto Slide Show

IPhoto was very simple to use. All you need to do is upload your photos into an event, and create the slideshow. It gives you different ways to transition your photos along with captions and music. I used photos that I took over the 2010 summer of a nearby sunflower field. I used the meaning of what each photo meant to me as the captions. What I didn't like about this program is that there is only one way to tranistion your photos allowed you to add captions. Works only on Macs.

Animoto
This website was pretty easy to use. You need to make an account to begin a slideshow but it is free. Once you finish editing your pictures and adding in caption slides (cannot make captions on individual pictures with the free version), you can choose from many music styles to add to the show or upload your own. Once you are done, Animoto will email you the final video. The only bad thing about this website is that it only gives you 30 seconds of photos (around 12 photos). You need to pay for an upgrade to create a longer slideshow and to edit more of the slideshow. I do like how you can pick the background of the slideshow. It also helps to be given music which they give credit to on the website and on your slideshow page, I choose Roger Espinoza's Granada Tropical (a latin song without any words). I used photos of my puppy Lola to show how she has grown up within the past 6 months. She now runs the household. Works on both Macs and PCs.

VoiceThread
VoiceThread is simple to use. All you need is an account (free!). First you upload the photos (or videos) in your new slideshow. Then click add comments; this allows your to add typed comments or voice recorded comments. This is a cool feature, depending on your restictions, you can allows other to make comments on your slideshow. I created mine using pictures I took when I visited New York City this past fall. I decided to do a little commentary about how New York Harbor was a main welcoming point for many immigrants. Their ships past the Statue of Liberty on their way to Ellis Island. Works on both Macs and PCs.

Flickr
Flickr is a website where you can upload photos or videos in albums and share them. They offer an automatic slideshow of the album. The slidshow I created was about my graduation last May. It was a super important moment of my life and making a slideshow about it meant a lot to me. The only thing I did not like about this slde show is that I could not change the transitions of each photo or the length video each photo received.
